A spreadsheet is a table containing rows and columns. Values and formulas can be added to each cell. If you change one value, it impacts the others. This makes it an excellent tool for trying out ideas called "what-if scenarios".

Many educators use spreadsheets to record grades and keep budgets. An electronic spreadsheet is a software program that allows you to create and manipulate spreadsheets electronically

Spreadsheet Software. Many software packages can be used to create spreadsheets. Microsoft Excel is the most popular tool for producing electronic spreadsheets. Available for both Mac and Windows, this powerful program is relatively easy to use. Other spreadsheet software includes Appleworks, an integrated package.
