Computer/Technology Endorsement Program

Computer/Technology Endorsement Program

The Computer/Technology endorsement Program is specifically designed to meet the needs of practicing professional educators as they confront the increasingly important role technology is playing in Ohio's educational system. Teachers with this endorsement are likely to be called on to be the technology resource person within their school and to provide support to their peers. The program at the graduate level focuses on (1) coursework for developing knowledge and skills related to the design, development, delivery, and evaluation of instruction that effectively and efficiently uses technology as an aid to problem solving and critical thinking across content areas and grade levels; and (2) field experiences for the observation, implementation, integration and evaluation of such instruction in a school setting. Coursework and field experiences prepare students to utilize and integrate a broad base of educational computing and technology applications to enhance student learning and their own personal productivity.

Admission Criteria for the endorsement and the Master’s Degree in Education Technology requires the following:

1. A bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year institution.

2. An overall grade point average (GPA) of at least 2.7 on a 4.0 scale in all undergraduate work. Students who fail to meet this requirement may be considered for provisional admission, provided they demonstrate excellent promise for graduate study.

3. A valid Ohio teaching license.

4. Three recommendations concerning the prospective graduate student, which depending upon the student’s status at the time, may come from such sources as the undergraduate major adviser, current employer, school principal or others who are knowledgeable about the applicant’s ability to engage in graduate work in the desired program.

5. Regular - meets all of the admission requirements.

6. Provisional – fails to meet all admission requirements, but has demonstrated promise for graduate study including endorsement. The candidate is required to immediately complete the GRE (quantitative and verbal portions and only) and earn a minimum combined score of 800. If the candidate fails to achieve these GRE results, a 3.5 GPA in the College Core Requirement (four courses) is required for regular admission. The candidate must achieve regular admission status based on the above criteria as submitted prior to completion of 15 hours of course work to continue in the program.

Computer/Technology Endorsement Program

This endorsement program is designed for candidates who have been admitted into a graduate program in the Judith Herb College of Education, including:

1.
